Gore is also harder because 90% of the time you need to fight it in the cliffs. And the space to maneuver and visibility to see what it's accualy doing is a challange in it of itself.

Difficulty in this game is really subjective. It depends on how many times you fought the monster, which weapon you're using. I joined a group that killed tempered Arkveld without any issues and then wiped on Gravios.

yes - I'd put Hirabami way higher - not because its such a difficult monster by itself - its just so god damn annoying when it stays out of reach
Just by numbers alone arkveld and gore are harder which is objective. Playing sloppy against any monster can get a kill on you, but even while sweating you're always at threat of a 2 hit K.O from either
Lol no difficulty in this game is a fucking fact. The game is easy mode however you spin and turn it. You can literally kill the highest tier shit with a level 1 default weapon withour armor within 15 minutes. Absolute boring after you fought shit 2 or 3 times. No need to even bother crafting anything. Just build a random artian with blast or whatever if you want to kill the same arkveld and gore in 7 minutes over and over again.

Man, I really love fighting Rey Dau he's my favorite monster in wilds. His sound design is amazing! That's why, in the future, I would love to see monsters like Valstrax and Seregios. I know for a fact that the battles would be intense, and their sound designs would be top-notch.

I am going to be so so so so mad if Valstrax is not added to wilds, this is literally the perfect game for him to be in and Rey Dau is living proof that they can make him the perfect monster from sound effects to visuals to design

@@frenchbloo Absolutely! One of my favorite activities while playing the game is traveling around the map and gathering items for my inventory. I enjoy watching the monsters from a distance, whether it's a turf war between two large monsters or smaller monsters traveling in packs to take on one big monster. I would love to observe an aerial fight between Seregios and Rey Dau from afar as they duke it out.

Gore is hard because he moves like he is the size of the hunter in a game where the hunter moves like he is the size of Gore.
Yeah the monsters keep getting fatter while the hunters don't. With weapons like heavy bowgunner having it's dodge nerfed in both speed and distance
I love how Fire Chicken is a Brute Wyvern instead of a Bird Wyvern. I understand he’s using the Brute style/body, but he’s a damn rooster!!
Tenticle mommy nu udra is my favorite!!! I LOVE octopus so much and the fact that the cephalopods guard their nests its such a nice detail, i love them so much ❤️
Yeah~... that transition to HR and Yian Kut Ku was surprisingly challenging... someone over there absolutely LOVES that monster, got pissed at everyone underestimating his boy, and put him on steroids in Wilds... LOL
Uth Duna is one of THE hardest apex for a close range weapon without guard. Craaazy large hitboxes, water slides all over the place, and waaay too large to get around quick and reach the weakpoints
This. I hate fighting Uth Duna with Glaive. You basically can only poke it. As if you get caught in a long combo you’re gonna get combo-ed hard.

I legit felt bad when I had to go back to hunting Chatacabra just to get some mats for crafting. 4 experienced hunters wailing on a poor frog. It broke my heart. Sorry little bud. I need your parts for a cute outfit for my cat 😢
All my friends needed chatty mats a couple weeks ago. 2 of us used hammer and it was dead in literally a minute and never got the chance stand up. But it is in my top 10 favorite monsters to fight (when it can move) across all the games, big silly frog 😂

90% of my faints are from tempered Gore Magala. I get nearly one shot by 1 hit with fully upgraded armor and it combos. His explosions shred through my shields
Yeah, with fully upgraded armor, he’s the only monster I have seen one shot people. I have noticed he one shots when you have the frenzy debuff which increases damage taken.
I will agree with lala barina one of the coolest monsters but it's such a chore chasing it when it hops around
The only pain in the ass about Gore is breaking the feelers. I think I carted most to Nu Udra comparable to Gore and Arkveld combined.
I loved the Odogaron so much in MH World that I got super familiar with its move set back then, it almost made fighting it in Wilds super easy, until the wylk crystal explosions started. Love the new guardian variant that makes fighting odogaron more dynamic and opens up more options for dealing with it
Worlds and wilds have carved a special place in my heart for odo because in both games I wanted atleast a couple parts of the odo armor so I ended up pausing both my low rank journeys to kill 20-30 odo/guardian odos. Somehow this has endeared it to me and I'm not entirely sure why
My favorite Monster right now is Jin-Dahaad. I love fighting this ice dragon.

I hope next Arc Tempered is Nu Udra, but I suspect the go by order of the locals we visit, which would make Uth-Duna next.
I agree with the placement of the top 6. But I'd give Jin Dahaad its own rank among them as I don't find it more difficult then Rey Dau and Nu Udra by a margin. It can just stun lock you with an ice beam and proceed to do it again immediately after and guarantee a cart. I didn't speak from experience of course. It's not like it happened this morning. I mean I'm an veteran, how could I die... right? Hahaha...
Jin dahad nuke was my first death cause i missed the mechanic during the first encounter, a Gore Magala 5 stars was my first failed mission... but i then died multiple times to monsters because i didn't know about star leve, got complacent and underestimated the monsters, also not playing SnS and instead trying other weapons got me killed several tilmes

5 star Tempered Uth Duna is the hardest monster IMO, especially if you don’t play with a weapon that can block as he covers the a lot of the arena with some of those attacks.
Easy with long sword, im talking about 5 star aswell, ill admit tho once she hit you out of your flow of dodging her attacks it gets hard getting back into the flow.
This really shows how subjective difficulty is, cause I think in tempered 5 star form it’s the easiest one of the Apexes, its like it’s just a massive target, but I get absolutely bullied by Gore. Always interesting to hear everyone’s perspective
@@optimusprime5166 I feel like long sword is one of the most difficult weapons in Wilds so I can’t agree it’s easy with it. Maybe if you’re a foresight slash master it’s easy but I ain’t that.
@@ironmooss1946 All of the apexes are massive targets. The difference is that Uth Duna has a (literal) right hook like Mike Tyson.
Don't forget to add on Gold Large Crown, that fucker covers a whole zip code and then some with the belly flops
Uth Duna is clearly the most difficult because gamers hate taking showers.
Then they should actually love Uth Duna since he belly flops so hard that he gets rid of all the water.
So that's why he oneshoted me 🤔

Fun (?) fact - Jin's nova isn't a true instant kill, at least at 4-star tempered. I don't think I've seen a 5-star tempered version, but I have accidentally face-tanked and survived 4-star tempered Jin's nova two or three times.
I remember getting to the endgame and needing Gypceros parts and had never even seen one lmao.
IMO most monsters are all really fine, it’s more the maps that make them difficult. I hate fighting Gore in the cliffs because it’s so small but in the arena it’s a cakewalk. Rey Dau is always easy because majority of his map is really open. Uth Duna is really frustrating because because the environment, like the cliffs often gets in the way
Idk what console/pc u play on, but uth duna is also really annoying cause it’s the only monster on Xbox that makes the game drop frames/lag. He will belly flop 5 times in a row and I’ll get hit by every single one cause my games so laggy I can’t see anything

Yes and that is to be intentional. Boss arena is a major part of any boss fight that people seem to not pay attention to. And I think that's a good design choice if done well. Gore itself is a little ehh- 'cus he keeps fading out.
Any version of Gore makes me question my choices so hard I usually waste a few days crafting a new weapon and trying to learn it before just going back to glaive.
I'm a new player, so at first everything was hard to me 😅, but now i have a little over 90hrs in the game and I'm pretty comfortable now, with that being said imo the difficulty of each monster is highly dependent on your weapon of choice, I did most of my quest with weapons you can't guard with, but after switching to weapons like gun lance and my new favorite S&S I literally can solo anything and almost never get carted
Yeah. It’s just kinda that way. He’s coming at it from someone who’s an expert at the game and who mains one of the top 3 weapons rn.
If you’re learning or casual, take this list with a massive grain of salt.
I hope each of the monsters besides the Apexes get a "Psuedo" arch-temp version. Cause some of the lower tier monsters would be more dangerous if they were more tanky and did more damage.
Highly doubt we will. I think the best we could hope for is either something along the lines of the old school 'Advanced' quests (as event quests) that were basically high rank+/G rank+, that beefed up the monsters (but they didn't have to be tempered/hyper etc.). Or maybe they'll add in old the Frenzied Apex system, though I dunno how challenging that'd even be in this game given how lackluster the standard Frenzied monsters are.
Honestly I was fighting the whole doshaguma pack the other day and it was soooo fun. It got me thinking that maybe more chaotic fights would be the way to go.
Sometimes I join new hunters and hear them complain about Kut Ku, and I silently smile to myself thinking, "Ol' sensei still taking new whippersnappers to school 😊"
It's not that he's hard, he's just annoying, new and old hunters alike

for its size it hit like a f*cking truck. his animatinos are often a mess. you know alh his moves yet you'll have 0.0001sec to react to his "head in the ground" attack because why not ? :D.
He should be ok-tier at best yet He's one of the most annoying out there.

His pepega slam drives me up the wall. Its so cheap. It has a telegraph from the front but i cant see it from behind him.
His big wingarm frenzy drag always catches me off guard because I keep expecting the timing of an arm slam but the arm drag/uppercut has so much more delay on it

I hate the attack that sends multiple lines of frenzy energy or whatever winding forward unpredictably.
Funny enough, Nu Udra is actually my favorite monster to fight in Wilds. As a Charge Blade soloist, I look at Nu Udra and all I see is choppable hitboxes. It is paradise to just chainsaw away at the thing, then perfect guarding its lumbering slam. Nu Udra never gave me any troubles.
The goofy movement of Kut-ku and Gypceros gives me an unreasonable hard time as my brain doesnt like to read those telegraphs. But Lala could definitely use to be more aggressive, so often you can stand in front of her and she will just stand there and look at you for a bit before hesitatingly swiping at you once with her claws.
Lala needs something that gives her more control over the fight. Maybe a new more effective way of using its barets because I've been paralyzed only a handful of times despite having fought it enough to have multiple paralysis weapon types.
Really all the monsters need more tools to deal with hunters to counter all the new tools that hunters have gotten to deal with monsters. Hopefully without just spamming tremor and roars which are more annoying than effective.

As a Souls player, the fact that rolling into Arkvyled is the way to go, actually makes it easier.
I didnt had many quest fail but the first time i fought Jin dahad he wipe everyone with his final attack cuz nobody in the party really knew the trick fun to see everyone die.
The other one is Gore Magala with sometimes his random KO thing

Crazy how Tempered Gore was the first and only monster to make me fail a quest in Wilds, T Gore Magala ain't no joke but it's also kinda sad that the very last monster they throw at us atm is the only monster that wipe squads with no problem.
Rompopolo has such a unique design, I hope they give him something so that he isn't so easy
Jin and Zoh’s two big attacks will always look badass even though i somehow managed to tank each of them once
In low rank Ajarakan, Guardian Doushagma, and Xu Wu made me use a lot of potions, but Uth Duna, Nu Udra, and Guardian Arkveld are the only times I carted. In high rank I was used to most of the fights, but Gore Magala and Arkveld are the only ones I struggle with.
Tempered Gore and Arkveld are definitely the only two monsters I would consider to be genuinely hard, but I did just get one-shotted by a 5 star tempered Rey Dau in an SOS quest today, which I didn’t even know was possible, so I’m quite looking forward to his AT fight. And I have high hopes for Mizutsune, I’m hoping his tempered form is at least on par with the tempered apexes

I honestly really like Chata and Quemitrice's moves sets. I'd seriously love a buffed up version of both. Chata is like super duper light weight Garangolm(who I don't expect to ever see again *sob*) and the chicken is such a cool brute with a flaming tail! He needs a fireball attack and to be even more aggressive with his tail and it could be a great fight!
Should do this with a community poll. Maybe have people pick like their 3 hardest monsters. I know as a new player mine would be different.
I will say high rank Jin was the first monster I couldn’t just stay in axe mode with my charge blade and actually had to use my shield.
i agree with zoh shia being very cool. but I cant say it's A-tier in difficulty since I was half asleep fighting it and closed my eyes a couple of times since i forced myself to play after 10 hours of work, but I still managed to kill it. rathian however can technically 2 tap you with the poison draining you so quickly
I was honestly pleasantly surprised with blangonga in this game. I didnt know he was in the game until i saw him. and let out a very audible "Whhhhhhhy?" when i ran into him. As i found his fight in gu very annoying.
But i genuinely really enjoyed the fight in this game

I would like a video about weapon-monster compatability. Like you said, shield weapons find jin dahaad much easier than others. I assume that Hirabami would be harder for shorter weapons like dual blades or sns
I remember being surprised when I got into high rank being able to hunt a Gravios easily with my low rank gear. Usually I see it as a higher tier monster so I was shocked lol.
Ajarican gives a free topple when he is slapping his head with his tail, I don't know the exact timing or thresholds, but I almost always get a topple when hitting his tail during the animation.
Gore is the only one that gives me trouble when Im trying a different weapon especially Gunlance.
Also what makes Gore an issue is the places that you have to fight it. Its mostly small.
I can comfortably fight anything in the game, except Gore Magala. The thing just has my number every time and is the only monster that I haven't had a clean fight with yet. Everything else I've managed, and there are a handful of tempered monsters that I've done no-hit runs with, but so far tempered Gore Magala has always carted me at least once. I play the Bow too so getting hit is significantly more detrimental lol. It's a way easier fight in the arena, but I haven't found a tempered one in the arena yet.
Another commenter is right, the majority of fights taking place in the cliffs makes it way harder than it actually is just because most zones are so narrow yet tall. In the arena the fight is a piece of cake, but in the cliffs it can be a real struggle.
Honestly I don't really struggle with any hunts, never fainted to a gore. New player, I just have a build made for defense. Don't need a fight to be over in 3 minutes if it's fun enough and I enjoy them all for the most part. :3
I personally have thought Nu Udra was the easiest apex. Uth was actually the first and only monster that carted me in the main story but the slower movement in water might also be a factor. Love that Rey is the first arc tempered they are my favorite new monster
Arch Tempered rathalos would be really awesome. He is my favorite monster in the game but there is not much point in hunting him outside of fun

Gore tempered even at 4 star slaps man. Haha the only monster I actually consistently fail a quest.
Rey Dau was my only cart running through Low rank and High Rank stories
It's the only fight I go in with respect for the monster now. Everyone else catches these hands with indiscriminate violence.

Ajarakan PISSES ME OFF! 😂 It's on sight whenever that mf'er sees you. He chased me from the bottom the the ruins to about half way up when I finally came across another monster and he started a turf war with it instead. A variant version of that Psycho would be scary.
I definitely had trouble with more than a few monsters on the list so my opinion isn't as valid but I mostly agree with the placements. Personally I would move base Doshaguma to C tier and move Quematrice up to D tier. The Yian Kut Ku is difficult to place since I feel as though the move set is relatively tame but the hit boxes seem exaggerated. All in all I think most would agree despite where people stand on the difficulty of the game there's a solid variety of monsters with unique designs.
I don’t believe any of the monsters in the base game are difficult at all but I do agree that Gore is the most difficult which I think is mostly about how often you fight it at the cliffs which generally has tighter spaces to fight in.
Weirdly the fights I find the hardest are Uth Duna, Nercylla, and Jin Dahaad. I can handle Gore and Arkveld at this point but for whatever reason, those three can land a lucky shot that carts me
I've fought every tempered monster with several weapons in wilds. The only time I've ever failed a mission was a gore magala. Not a tempered one, a regular ass gore magala with my main weapon after I'd already hunted over 10 tempered ones. Something about the arena gore magala just really fucks me up, because I fought a tempered gore in the arena and it was fine. Like wtf did they do to it goddamn

You really get the impression that some classic monsters have become much easier than before, because your character no longer controls like a tank. Which is kind of unfortunate, because some of them were cool.
They will just have to update the monsters move sets and behaviors going forward. They have already been doing that to a small extent, they will just have to move it up even further.
The much more fluid combat and the actual good hit boxes make the game seem easier. I think if you were to only implement these two aspects into the previous games, they would also seem very easy.
It was really hard going back to World and having to deal with monsters knocking you over by adjusting their position, getting stun locked and having to chase monsters like Barioth and Nargacuga around only to get one hit in before they jump away. I think this game is significantly better than what they’ve made before. I do think it’s easier but we don’t have master rank yet.
Also, I don’t want to hear anyone complaining about a future monster being too hard after saying the game’s too easy.

With how many people I’ve had to help with Jin Dahaad because it was *the* wall for people (and people are saying the tempered version is more difficult than Arkveld), Jin should be in front of Arkveld. The people I know who struggled with Jin were able to solo Arkveld just fine
Even regular gore is generally harder than all 5* tempered monsters for me. 5* Tempered gore consistently carts me and the only time i feel a real danger of failing a quest.
I would love for the devs to introduce a difficulty beyond expert while waiting for the expansion. I swear killing tempered monstres in 5 minutes is my only regret on this monster hunter.

I'm in a weird spot as an IG/DB main, because I've found Doshaguma more difficult than Rey Dau since even the beta, in large part due to its full-body hitboxes with surprisingly wide sweeping attacks. Ironically, I find even Tempered Guardian Doshaguma much easier, because I'm good about handling its wylk mechanics and find its telegraphs easier to read. Doshaguma is definitely my least favorite fight, and one that I need to practice more.

I’m surprised that it’s not higher, rather than lower lol. I’d put it in B tier just off the nuisance factor it has with its chunky hitbox moves that do little damage but keep on staggering you.
even base rise wasnt as easy but i took sunbreak for granted and notice its a really good game and i want some of the end game challenge we got in rise base game and sunbreak added to wilds.
I can't fight Xu Wu without laughing simply because every time I've fought it I accidentally manage to stun lock it when it's trying to return to its nest, so I end up dealing almost 3/4ths of its health before it finally manages to finish the animation of it going into a wall. (In all fairness I've only fought it like 4 times but still)
S+ tier for the camera. That’s by far the hardest fight in the entire game.

Only monster I ever wiped too is tempered arkveld from story, nu udra from story and tempered gore magala anytime lol

He’s a super fun fight with an incredible design
But not hard at all if you play Lance
Most monsters are weapon dependent but everything in the game becomes pretty easy once you know the fight. Which is how it should be realistically.
I agree that Arkveld is incredibly fun. Easily my favourite. Gore is definitely harder, but really just because his tells aren't as good and attacks harder to see. Lots of quick jerky movements. Essentially resulting in a fight that is harder but less fun overall, just because it's harder to tell what exactly is happening sometimes.
With Ark I know what is happening the whole time and can always see the necessary parts of him to understand what attack is coming. Every attack is visually distinct. Gore isn't always so readable.
They both do cracked damage with some attacks though (at least against my un-upgraded armour).
Blangonga is the easiest for me. At least using Gunlance, it feels like you’re constantly able to dps him and you can easily counter most of his attacks. It’s really fun to bully him, makes no difference if he’s tempered.
could you do a tier list for how difficult a monster is for a weapon ?

I wouldn’t rank Rathalos that high nor I would Rathian that low. Getting poisoned in this game is brutally long in comparison to World or Rise. But overall I do agree with the arrangement and yes Xu Wu weapons are the prettiest of all :)
Just feels like they massively nerfed the health pools compared to world. Really looking forward to the title updates and hoping they bring more difficulty

Rey dau so much easier to fight for me than Yian Kut-ku hahaha. And probably easier than most of A and B tier on this list.
Gore is the only real challenge in wilds. Worlds had so many challenging fights. Rajang, devil jo, kirin, velkana, raging brachydos, and of course you cant forget alatreon and the hardest boss ever in a video game the one and only fatalis(yes even harder than melania).
I want for wilds to have fun and challenging monsters like in worlds.
I would put the two Doshagumas at the bottom of B tier and move Odagaron between Ajarkan and Xu Wu. I only play hammer so that might be the difference. Odogaron just has too much offense that gave me some trouble the first time I fought it.
Fought hundreds of Lvl 250+ Gore Magalas on Rise thats hes become easy to me. Arkveld and Rey Dau fights are my favorite
